Lockwood makes TABOR pledge
DENVER— Republican candidates for state party chair entered a pledge Monday agreeing to defend the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, known as TABOR. TABOR gives taxpayers the final say on tax hikes instead of politicians and puts restraints on runaway spending. Kristi Burton-Brown, Jonathan Lockwood and Casper Stockham agreed to the pledge and issued the following joint statement:
“There is no room for compromising on TABOR. Taxpayers must be protected from the whims of politicians and horse-trading at the Capitol. Coloradans repeatedly kill politically-driven, reckless tax and spend policies at the ballot—Amendments 66, 69 and Prop CC were all handily defeated despite Democrats spending massive amounts of cash and manipulating voters. TABOR protects Coloradans from becoming total serfs for the Democratic supermajority. TABOR does not hurt Republicans—it helps all Coloradans immeasurably.”
